Thinking Different: Creating Unique Bouquets

While walking down the aisle, the bride is the obvious star of the wedding, but there's something else that may catch the guests eye. It's the bouquet. The bouquet needs to be as unique as the bride. Nothing makes a statement like having a wedding bouquet that truly compliments the brides personality. There are no rules to how your bouquet should look. While classic roses will always be timeless, there is something to say about a bouquet that makes guests turn heads. Whether your taste be modern, country, vintage- glam, edgy, or classic it's impossible to go wrong.

This bouquet's arrangement has the perfect fresh, country essence to it. The pastel  peonies, yellow poms, white snap dragons, combined with the tropical and bright anthiriums neatly gathered in a green ribbon give the feeling of just being picked from a garden in springtime.

This cascade of multicolored roses fit in perfectly with the couple's Kentucky Derby theme. Not only are the flowers luscious and beautiful to look at but the shape of the bouquet is unique on its own.

Nothing is more dramatic than black and white. Vintage and old hollywood glam will never go out of style, but there are so many ways to do it. A bride could incorporate a plethora of materials in her floral arrangement including feathers, pearls, gems, pins, or even a tiny seahorse to personalize the bouquet.

An understated part of the bouquet is the ribbon wrapping found around the stems. However, it should not be overlooked because it has the capability to enhance the bouquet and add detail. Alternating color ribbon or an interesting texture can make any bouquet more personalized.

The champagne color of the bridesmaids dresses and the color scheme of this wedding were complimented by the apricot calla lillies contrasting with the deep red alstromeria and the curly willow adding height and drama, perfect for an autumn wedding.

This bride made a bold statement with a vibrantly colored arrangement contrasting her white gown.

This floral arrangement exudes drama and passion, it is the perfect arrangement to make a dramatic statement. The dark tones of the plum calla lillies, and deep purple and red roses express the depth of this couple's love.

While there are a variety of creative directions that can be taken with a bouquet, simple, understated elegance can be just as visually stunning. It's okay to let the beauty of the flowers speak for themselves.

A little bling anyone? Rhinestone brooches gathered into a beautiful bouquet as seen above, or whimsical dangling strands of glass will surely make the bride the center of attention!

Using untraditional materials, such as sea shells or deleicate butterflies, or even gorgeous ribbon can be just as elegant as fresh flowers. They also add their own unique sense of texture and layering that cannot always be achieved through the traditional flowers.

Martha Stewart Weddings has a fantastic collection of other unique wedding bouquet ideas, from sea shells to dried wild flowers, even bouquets made of succulents! The Offbeat Bride has a great post featuring alternative bouquets for fearless brides.
