Bows, Ribbons and Promo Cards

When I first started doing marketing I had a lot of people requesting my cards to hand out. I would send them a packet of them tossed into an envelope. I found this kind of boring. I kept trying to think of ways to spruce everything up. The solution I came up with was ribbon!

I now wrap almost everything that goes out the door from Pilster Photography in ribbon. I am still trying to find the ribbon that I feel matches us, but having many different ones might be the best match of all. We are about being different, and having ribbon that isn't the same every time is definitely different. When I know who the client or vendor that I am sending the cards to I try to think of which ribbon they might like.

Oh and one of my favorite places to find ribbon is Etsy of course!

Back to School

Cornell Alumni Magazine asked if I would follow some of their students down on spring break. While some college students run off and party, others spend their spring breaks volunteering. These students volunteered to come to an elementary school and help teach.

Part of the program is sponsored by Harris Rosen and his hotels Rosen Hotels and Resorts. Rosen is an alumni of Cornell.

While I was there he showed up to see how the college students were doing. Some might think this was a publicity stunt, but you could tell he was no stranger to the elementary school kids. Many of the children called Rosen by his name or at least waved to him like he was a regular there.

He showed a passion in helping these children that I would love to see more of with people in positions similar to his. It's great that he's trying to pass this down to the college students who volunteered their spring break to help these kids. This gave me a great respect anything that he manages including his hotel chain.

On another note, Cornell Alumni Magazine did a great job with their choice of images and then use of the images. The entire spread looks fantastic!

Pilster Photography's Louvre Wedding Albums

One of my favorite things that we offer at Pilster Photography is our Louvre wedding album. I think it is such a spectacular piece, which shows off all of your photos in a stylish and high class way, that everyone should have one.

Sure you can see lot's of your images on DVDs and online, but when you hold the album in your hands it can bring emotions that you just don't get from looking at a screen.

When I ordered my first sample album I was probably as excited as the bride and groom! This portfolio of memories is so stunning.

To make the albums just scream magnificent at you, I have found James, our Associate Storyteller, who is an awe-inspiring album designer. He surprises me all of the time with his creativity and talent. No matter how small the album is, I make use of his talents because I believe in everyone deserves this high quality product.

Look at these flush-mount pages. They are so thick and such high quality. These coffee table style-albums are designed to last for generations.

All of the packages include 20 sides/pages, which is 10 spreads, with the option of purchasing up to 70

The intro to our albums is a handcrafted and genuine leather cover. They are
available in 16 colors. You can also ask about adding two tones or a cameo cover (One with the front picture showing through) to them.

See how flat this lays!

Also with our albums are some choices. Just let us know which ones fit you.

Here is the impressive layout done by James. He makes the Pilster Photography photos just jump!

Gulf Coast Baseball

It's nice to have editorial clients because they keep me busy when other things are slow and mix things up that I'm photographing. I had a chance to go shoot the Gulf Coast League of Florida minor league baseball for one of them. In between the project I was working on for them I took a chance to relax and make a few images for myself.

A Quick Trip to Kansas and Back

The only thing good about getting up before the sun is seeing the amazing light peak through the window of the Airtran 737 you are sitting in. Then you go back to sleep until you get to Atlanta.

Whenever we go on a trip back to my wife's home state of Kansas we are always trying to squeeze too much into too little time. We definitely are looking for excuses to go back.

One of those excuses will definitely be a Kansas wedding next year for one of Liz's best friends. She's still deciding who her photographer will be, but I hear I'm in the running. When we first arrived we sat down, had lunch with her at this yummy Mediterranean cafe called Bella Luna, and saw her gorgeous engagement ring. We met her fiance last year and they are perfect for each other!

Our first stop was to see Liz's mom. Her garden is huge! I wish we had that much space for a garden, we'd never have to go grocery shopping.

And then we were off.

The real reason for the entire trip was my wife's 10 year high school reunion. Her graduating class only had about 77 people in it and over 20 of them showed up! But none of her family lives in the town anymore, so instead of staying at one of the two questionable hotels in town we took the opportunity to check into a bed and breakfast. The Bunkhouse at Wildfire Ranch was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

Liz enjoys the awesome view!

They were great hosts, they fully stocked our bathroom for any ailments!

And they allow dogs too. Here we are getting our breakfast greeting!

They definitely don't have any problems with speeders up their driveway

My FAVORITE shot of the weekend! That's the Bunkhouse in the rearview mirror.

The real reason we were there was the reunion. They had this giant inflatable for the kids. I didn't get a chance to jump on it though.

The actual gathering.

Some people just call Kansas "flat," but it has it's moments!

And always on our way out, we crash at some of our good friends. This was the first time we had a chance to see their new addition.

No, not Harley

Their adorable baby Maddie!

And with babies comes cleaning of lot's of bottles!

And we were off...

Jess & Blake in Winter Park: The Outtake

I just have to say again how awesome Jess and Blake were to do their e-session. As I'm down on the ground to make some of the previously seen shots. These two are loving that I would lay down in the puddles and muck to make their picture. So not only do they get a few stills of me, but there is the corresponding video to the below shot.

Jess & Blake in Winter Park: Take 2

So after we let the balloons go, we needed a water break! We stopped into this little coffee shop and out back we noticed this cool courtyard.

Then things just got electric (Okay, bad pun)
