A Quick Trip to Kansas and Back

The only thing good about getting up before the sun is seeing the amazing light peak through the window of the Airtran 737 you are sitting in. Then you go back to sleep until you get to Atlanta.


Whenever we go on a trip back to my wife's home state of Kansas we are always trying to squeeze too much into too little time. We definitely are looking for excuses to go back.

One of those excuses will definitely be a Kansas wedding next year for one of Liz's best friends. She's still deciding who her photographer will be, but I hear I'm in the running. When we first arrived we sat down, had lunch with her at this yummy Mediterranean cafe called Bella Luna, and saw her gorgeous engagement ring. We met her fiance last year and they are perfect for each other!

Our first stop was to see Liz's mom. Her garden is huge! I wish we had that much space for a garden, we'd never have to go grocery shopping.



And then we were off.



The real reason for the entire trip was my wife's 10 year high school reunion. Her graduating class only had about 77 people in it and over 20 of them showed up! But none of her family lives in the town anymore, so instead of staying at one of the two questionable hotels in town we took the opportunity to check into a bed and breakfast. The Bunkhouse at Wildfire Ranch was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

And always on our way out, we crash at some of our good friends. This was the first time we had a chance to see their new addition.

Mike and Angie's Anniversary for their Kansas Wedding

Mike and Angie have been amazing friends. Mike is another former newspaper photographer who also now photographs weddings all over Kansas with Heartland Photography. They recently had their first child and we will be visiting them in June after making a trip to Hays, KS to see the in-laws. I am looking forward to meeting the little one, I'm sure she's adorable!
