Outside the Ballroom: The Summerlin House

As a treat to your senses we would like to recommend The Summerlin House. In the heart of downtown Orlando's Thornton Park this house sits as a monument to a simpler time, when Florida life didn't involve busy schedules, late nights, or even air conditioning (There is indoor space, but a large patio for outdoor ceremonies and receptions). The house has since been updated and is a standing example of this 1910's lifestyle.

One of the great things about this venue is that it is also a bed and breakfast. You can make an entire vacation out of your wedding.

The website describes the venue as being "Built in 1915, this historic home will welcome your guests with the character and charm from the past. As you pass through the home and through the french doors onto the deck you will find a quaint courtyard that is perfect for wedding ceremonies and receptions."

The courtyard and other locations all stick to the old Florida theme while adding elegance with their versatile pagodas and event furnishings. This is definitely a great venue if you are looking for something more vintage.

Things you need to know about this venue:

Outside the Ballroom: This is a series about discovering other amazing venues that exist for weddings and other events, ranging from castles, to traditional antique ballrooms, to bed and breakfasts, to anything that cannot be classified as a modern ballroom or meeting room. We also want to hear from you about the venues you've discovered, so please submit them in the comments or email them to info@pilsterphotography.net with Outside the Ballroom in the subject. For more info you can find it at the Introduction.

Daytona Beach, Florida, engagement session of Rhiva and Josh

Rhiva and Josh picked a great day to go out and have some fun on the beach. With such busy lives and some real life emergencies, we ended up not shooting their engagement session until a week before their wedding (Those photos will be coming soon!). It all worked out great though and the weather was amazing for us!

The setting sun created a great evening glow.

I love the waves here. It was challenging not to get my camera wet.
